RJ Bentley owned landed in Bramley since the late 1800's. We know he owned The Travellers Pub, The houses on the front of Bawtry Road and the land surrounding it including Bentley Road.

He built the first house on Bentley Road, House number 13. Which strangly enough is the home to our very own Chairman.

R J Bentley sold some of the land to the council and some of the land to "The Brewery" The only land he didnt sell in this area was the land that is now Our Allotment site.

He left this piece of land to the people of the poor house, which was originally located on the corner of Bentley Road / Bawtry Road. The poor house was moved to the site on Doncaster Gate Hospital and then later demolished.

As far as we know the Allotment land is still left to the people of the poor house for allotment uses only.

Our regeneration work will bring back the site to a usable area that whole community can get benefit from home grown food, and enjoy for many more years to come as R J Bentley wished it to be.

History & Our Plans for the Future,

Austen Drive Allotments

History of the Allotments

Our Aim

Our Aim is to bring back the site to its former glory for the whole community to share.

The site will benefit so many people within the community bringing a lifeline to most, from either Ill Health, disability, poverty, lonliness or to create home grown food for their famalies.

We are bringing all walks of life together for one purpose, people of all ages and skills, learning and growing together. We are raising awareness of the site and getting local people and local business and fund raising groups together.

We are also creating a community garden in memory of all the men and women that worked the land, but also R J Bentley for leaving the land to local people to benefit from in the first place.

We want to bring more wildlife to the area, including Bee's,Bats,Birds,Bugs and livestock for the benefit of the environment and help endangered animals/species that freely help our crops.

Giving something back to All,is our main moto
